Hoarding of medicinal products in the need-dependent reimbursement system

Summary

This analysis indicates that hoarding is a problem within the need-dependent reimbursement system. Among medicine users with expenses exceeding DKK 510 within a reimbursement year, hoarding is estimated to constitute approximately 2 per cent of the users’ reimbursable medicine expenses. If medicine users hoard equally throughout the entire reimbursement period, this hoarding is camouflaged in the trend and the effect of hoarding is underestimated.
