Over-the-counter sales outlets

Over-the-counter sales outlets are points of sale for pharmacies organised in another shop, often a supermarket.

Over-the-counter sales outlets may sell non-prescription medicinal products suitable for sale outside of pharmacies. It is the Danish Health and Medicines Authority that determines whether a medicinal product may be sold in an over-the-counter sales outlet.

Furthermore, over-the-counter sales outlets can deliver prescription-only medicinal products that have been dispatched by a pharmacy to the outlet.

Personnel employed at over-the-counter sales outlets are not necessarily educated within the pharmacy profession.

In total there are about 663 over-the-counter sales outlets.
