Foreign pharmacy staff

Pharmacists

Persons having qualified as a pharmacist outside Denmark who want to work at a Danish community pharmacy or hospital pharmacy must be authorised by the Danish Health and Medicines Authority pursuant to section 36(2) of the Danish Pharmacy Act.

Different rules apply depending on the nationality of the applicant and the country in which the training was completed.

You can read more about the rules in the Danish Health and Medicines Authority's guidelines for pharmacists qualified outside Denmark who want to work at a Danish community pharmacy or hospital pharmacy (see the box to the right). The guidelines also provide information about where to submit the application, the requirements to content and knowledge of languages, additional requirements, etc.

Pharmaconomists

Persons having qualified as a pharmaconomist outside Denmark who want to work at a Danish community pharmacy or hospital pharmacy must be authorised by the Danish Health and Medicines Authority pursuant to section 36(2) of the Danish Pharmacy Act.

Different rules apply depending on the nationality of the applicant and the country in which the training was completed.

Please contact the Danish Health and Medicines Authority if you need further information about which documents to submit for an assessment of whether or not your education can be considered equivalent to the education that Danish pharmaconomists receive.
