Counterfeit versions of the medicinal product Cipralex® (Escitalopram) 10 mg tablets, 28 pieces in blister packs have been found at a pharmacy in Egypt.
The counterfeit medicinal product, Cipralex® (Escitalopram), 10 mg tablets, is sold in a Turkish packet containing 28 tablets in a blister pack. The batch number printed on the packet is 5033. The packet does not contain a package leaflet.
The packets are counterfeits, so they are neither manufactured nor marketed by the company manufacturing the original product.
The counterfeit medicinal product is not distributed through any official channels in Denmark. However, the Danish Medicines Agency can not rule out that private people may be able to buy the medicinal product elsewhere, for instance via the internet or by illegal private import from Egypt.
People who have used the tablets are encouraged to stop using them and possibly contact their general practitioner.
The Danish Medicines Agency would like to encourage people who have bought the fake medicinal product to hand in the remains at a pharmacy.
