Since 15 October 2006, restaurants and cafés have had the opportunity to sell stop-smoking aids, e.g. nicotine chewing gum and nicotine patches.
Application for licence from the Danish Medicines Agency
Restaurants and cafés requesting to sell these aids, must apply for a licence from the Danish Medicines Agency. Download application form in Danish in the factbox to the right.
Restaurants and cafés that sell stop-smoking aids must observe a number of requirements to storing, handling and must keep documentation of the stop-smoking aids. These requirements are described in the guidelines for sale of over-the-counter medicinal products outside pharmacies (in Danish only), see the factbox to the right. Sales outlets must report their sales of stop-smoking aids to the Danish Medicines Agency on a monthly basis.
The application fee is DKK 300 to which should be added an annual fee of DKK 300 as long as the licence is in force.
