AstraZeneca has identified a problem with the NES-Spacer®, which is an inhalation device to be used together with asthma medicine. If a patient assembles the NES-Spacer® incorrectly, the patient cannot inhale the medicine, and the simultaneous use of a face mask prevents the patient from breathing. Therefore, AstraZeneca withdraws the NES-Spacer® from patients and the distribution chain.
You may find further information at AstraZeneca’s website via this link.
AstraZeneca has sent a letter to doctors, pharmacies and wholesalers to inform them about the problem. This letter is also available at AstraZeneca’s website.
AstraZeneca is expected to inform about the withdrawal of the product in the press.
The Danish Medicines Agency recommends patients using the NES-Spacer® to contact their general practitioner to ensure that they can continue to be treated in a correct and sensible manner.
