The Danish Medicines Agency and the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration warn against use of the pills Bromodrol, Dual Action Grow Tabs, Grow Tabs, Mass Tabs and Ripped Tabs TR. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has notified the Danish Medicines Agency that the products may contain undeclared anabolic steroids or substances similar to steroids, and that one or more of the products have been distributed from the USA to Denmark.
The FDA has analysed the products, and the results of the analysis have caused the FDA to believe that the products contain anabolic steroids. This is not, however, stated on any of the packages. On the contrary, the products have been sold as dietary supplements containing a mixture of different herbs directed at people lifting weights and other athletes.
IDS Sports has recalled the products from the American market, but we would like to warn consumers of the possibility that Danes may have bought some of the products on the internet before the recall.
The side effects from using anabolic steroids are acute liver injury, impotence, increased risk of heart attack, masculinisation of women, breast enlargement in males, mood swings, depression, etc.
If you have taken any of the pills mentioned, we advise you to:
- stop using the product
- contact your general practitioner, if concerned.
Please return any unused products to the nearest pharmacy for destruction.
In general, we advise anyone buying medicine and food supplements via foreign websites to be cautious. You should be particularly cautious when it comes to “sports supplements”. In the end of 2009, the FDA issued a press release about the recall of 65 sports supplements sold via the website www.bodybuilding.com. This recall was also based on a suspicion about undeclared anabolic steroids.
