Much debated dental crowns pose no health risk

/Product areas

On 29 August, DR TV (Danish Broadcasting Corporation) broadcast a story on the Danish company Oversea Labs about gold dental crowns. The test results presented by DR have now been reviewed by the independent Nordic Institute of Dental Materials (NIOM). The results revealed a lower gold content than what could be expected based on information from the company.

Like Danish experts, the Nordic institute, which is based in Norway, establishes that the gold dental crowns tested pose no increased health risk compared to the composition promised by the company. The institute finds the durability of the crowns to be unaffected by the changed composition of metals. Finally, NIOM establishes that the nickel and lead contents are so low that they should not be a cause for concern.
