The Danish Medicines Agency publishes different statistics on the sale of medicinal products according to information in the Register of Medicinal Product Statistics at the Danish Medicines Agency. The following statistics are available at the website:

Annual statistics, total sales of medicinal products provides an overview of human medicines to citizens in Denmark.

The annual statistics contain the sale of medicinal products on an annual basis. The statistics are grouped according to active substances (ATC groups). It is possible to view sales in turnover and dispensed volume (DDD), as well as number of people treated calculated by different methods. Information on both primary and secondary health sector is given and can be stratified by region, gender or age.

Statistics of antibiotics consumption contain detailed information on the consumption of antibiotics in the primary and secondary health sector. The statistics show the amount sold (DDD) per 1,000 inhabitants per day. The medicinal products are grouped according to the ATC system. In order to search the statistics you therefore need to know the trade name or ATC code of a medicinal product.

The statistics on the Danish population's use of medicines against major preventable diseases and disorders by municipality show how many users have bought prescription-only medicines for the treatment of a number of major preventable diseases and disorders during the course of one year.
